(EVV) Electronic Visit Verification

EVV PDN UPDATE

EVV stands for Electronic Visit Verification. It is a federal mandate for Medicaid reimbursed home health care services.  Private Duty Nurses (PDNs) fall into this mandate category.  You will need to verify your arrival and departure from your client's home/location of services once hard launch begins in order to get paid.  As PDNs we will have to login into EVV (Sandata) prior to each shift and at the end of the shift.  EVV entries must coincide with the hours that are billed in order to get paid. EVV will only log that you showed up to your client’s location and when you end your service at that location. The EVV Sandata app logs your visits but does not do your billing. You must still bill your hours.

There are several alternative EVV programs aside from Sandata.  PDNs may choose to use one of these options, but be sure to do your research and be sure that it is approved by DHS/Sandata.  Providers will still need to do the online learning through DHS, as the alternate EVV provider will still need to connect to Sandata in order for providers to get paid. So, everyone needs to do the Sandata training.

EVV Training

Independent nurses must complete EVV training. You will need your Medicaid ID#. This can be found on your Remittance Advice(Forward Health Portal) in the upper right corner of the screen. It will be labeled Payee ID/MCD. Or call Provider Services to obtain this number. (800)947-9627

If you are doing the self-paced course, it will ask you to enter the enrollment key name.  The code is at the top of page 2 in this doc -- WIEVVAgency.

Below is the EVV Training instructions.

Providers,

All administrators, including independent nurses, who are using the DHS-provided Sandata EVV system are required to take one of the training series in full to receive credentials for the Sandata EVV Portal. Read on and plan which of the two training options you want to complete.

After completing the training series, providers will receive their credentials from Sandata to set up their Sandata EVV portal.

Note: Independent nurses are reminded that they are both an administrator and a worker. They are required to take this administrator training if choosing the DHS-provided Sandata EVV system.

To enter your Prior Authorization date. This date must be before Oct 1 in order to get paid once hard launch begins. You do NOT need to enter your actual PA#. Sandata creates a PA number of its own choosing. The end date should be 50+ years in the future so we don't have to do this step again. When the PA is approved through Forward Health, this info will be transmitted to Sandata. Do this correctly the first time you set up your Sandata account, so that you don't have to do it again.
