Pediatric Certification Classes
New for 2011
Starting February 1, 2011, the certification for the Care of the Child on a Ventilator will be a two part course. The total cost of the course will still be $175.00.
Part 1 is an on-line course that must be completed before attending the classroom session. The on-line course will be provided by the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing at http://mynursingce.son.wisc.edu/. A credit card is needed for registration. This registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE once you register. The cost for the entire course is $175.00 and payable by credit card.
Part 2 is a classroom session. The classroom session will be held at the location that you prefer (see addresses and phone numbers below). In order to attend the part 2 classroom session you MUST provide proof of successful completion of the on-line course (Part 1).
Course Description
Part 1 On-line course: The on-line course is made up of 10 lessons on a self-paced on-line site. Each lesson has information about the topic with details about the key concepts for the lesson. There is a lecture to watch/listen to, and learning activities that can be used to apply the information from the lecture. A ten question test is given after each lesson. A passing score of 80% allows you to move on to the next lesson. The entire course needs to be completed and passed before coming to the classroom portion of the course. The on-line course will take from 3 to 10 hours to complete, but does NOT need to be completed all at the same time.
Part 2 Classroom session: On the day of the classroom session, bring the Certification of Completion from the on-line course to the class to show that you have passed. The 4 hour classroom session will be a chance for you to have hands on experience with the tracheostomy cares and the ventilator. Case scenarios will also be discussed to reinforce the information that was learned from the on-line course. Please note: Even if you have registered and paid for the classroom session - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLASSROOM SESSION WITHOUT PRESENTING THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FROM THE ON-LINE COURSE TO THE INSTRUCTOR!

Pediatric Ventilator Classes
To attend the Care of the Child on a Ventilator Certification Course at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin ( Milwaukee , WI ) you must pre-register. For detailed course information or to register, visit our website at: http://www.maxishare.com/conferences_and_training/#vent_cert.
Registration for the Certification Course includes on-line course modules (accessed only through www.maxishare.com, NOT UW School of Nursing) and classroom session for skills check off. All registrations close 1 week prior to course dates. (Minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 registrants per class). Re-certification and Certification classes are held monthly (Recertification in the AM and Certification in the PM on dates listed). Classes fill up fast, so register early.
No additional classes will be scheduled if classes are full.
